15 hours of work = 10 hours of sleep

We moved ~50 production Intel servers, a mainframe, and several SAN units from our old “computer room” into our new “data center” on Friday.
So the new data center quite kicks ass. It’s like moving into an ultra-modern mansion after having lived in a 400sqft apartment for the last 7 years. Naturally I have a shitload of pictures, but I’ve been threated with my ass if I put them online. Grrr. LOL
And amazingly, with the exception of one prehistoric 7U Dell server running RHEL 3 that needed to have its SCSI card reseated, everything else worked perfectly when turned back on. The hardest part was taking the time to do a good job with cable management. It was actually a bit competitive to see who ended up with the best wired rack. ::shrug::
Added bonuses for the day were some hot electricians and professional movers (you apparently can’t just wheel a mainframe through the building to the new data center like we did with our Intel servers), and a lot of the consultants we had on hand (in case things went to hell) had MacBook Pros. w00t
