Odd, but it works.

So we received an offer (and a filled-out and signed contract, minus our info) this morning, but for $7K less than our offer, but the guy FSBO’ing us our next house said he’d split the difference, so .. yay, it all works out!
There’s a little pride involved in not getting the offered price (because I think it’s a fucking steal), but blowing a $260,000 deal over $3,500 is nucking futs. ![]()
Congratulations! Now the real fun of moving starts!
We have a house flipper giving us an offer on our old house tonight, so we will see how that goes, keeping my fingers crossed that the offer is high enough because that will be the easy way out!
Congrats Big J!!
Ugh… you never realize how much you own until its time to move it all!!!!!
Congrats!!! That’s awesome. When do you move? Wish I was there to help you move…um, yeah…something like that. It’s the thought that counts! I hope that you really enjoy your new digs!
Well, we did it, we signed the sales agreement for our old house. Not for as much as we wanted, but more than his initial offer…. So on 12/15 we will be down to a single mortgage payment..
Oh congrats!! How’d you make him go up? Are you getting more than if you had a Realtor ™ (c) (whatever else) sell the house for you?
I really really liked that house. There was something just so cool about it!
I asked if he could make $x work. (Just $7k more than his cash offer.) His other offer was $25k more, but with us holding a contract for 1 year, but by my figuring worked out to about $4k less over all. He got a good deal, but we don’t have to worry about the tax consequences anymore.
We wouldn’t have gotten a Realtor unless we had remodeled it, then we could have gotten a lot more for it. But for all the hassle of cleaning it up, he will deal with any crap we leave in it, and doing all the work he will make some money. (It is what he does for a living.) He is also paying ALL the fees, title insurance, absolutely everything.
We really, really, really like our new house much, much more. We did take the spa from the old house, but it is at the factory getting refurbished right now.
We did offer you the old house for a really good deal if you wanted to move back to Portland, but no you wanted to stay all the way over there.
BTW It looks like the time stamps on here are about 5 hours off.
We made the house cool. Going back there, without anyone living in it, it felt dead.
The new one’s way cooler. You need to come visit.
Of course, in 6 months, that house will be on the market for about (I’m going to toss out a wild ass guess) $389,000. I’ll try and snag pictures - before and after - when that happens.

So are you so busy in all of this purchase/moving that you are hiding out now?
