Ugh, mental note: don’t pick up rental car 30 minutes before they close unless you like driving a 4-door pickup truck that has the turning radius of a 1970’s school bus.
The roads out here are very hilly and curvey, which makes finding things a total pain in the ass. That, plus the main road thru down is like 10 lanes wide, but road signs for the major cross streets are regular neighborhood sized, making them impossible to read far enough in advance to get where you’re going. Grrrr
Class is alright. Teacher is a short black buff guy with a somewhat French accent, so I’m guessing he’s Canadian? He pronounces “Putty” (the free Windows SSH program) “pooty” and algorythm as “Al Gore Rythm”, .. it’s funny. Only 4 other folks in my class. Material is in-depth (as in “i had to take the fucking book back to the hotel to look it over”). We should get out of class around 1pm on Friday, so hopefully I can ditch some of the DC traffic leaving.
Hotel room (Courtyard Marriot) is pretty nice. There are two Chipotle’s within 3 miles of here. Ugh. Had a burrito last night. I think the Chipotle magic has worn off (kinda like IKEA). I’ll always like it, I just won’t be doing the ooo-ooooooo!-oooo (r) Scott thing about it any more.
It’s weird to be back in an area with lots of different accents (both US and foreign). Had lunch at a bagel shop today where the employees were a bitchy black lady, a Middle-eastern kid on the cash register, and an Asian grandma making the stuff. Of course they were all being supervised by a white male. Gotta have “the man” in there somewhere, right? Chick Filet was all Mexican. That was almost like being back in Portland.
OK, need to go find some dinner. My stomach’s been hurting all day. I just want some mashed potatoes and gravy… ![]()
oooooooo oooooooooo Chipotle!!!!
So does this mean you are gonna come back all computer smart now?
Too bad youre coming back on Friday. Toby and I are going to be up in DC on Saturday….
