Currituck County in northeast North Carolina
city of Virginia Beach in southeast Virginia

* until 400 am EST

* at 331 am EST… National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Munden… or
about 10 miles northwest of Currituck… moving northeast at 40 mph.

* The tornado is expected to be near…
Back Bay by 340 am EST…
Pungo by 345 am EST…
sigma… Dam Neck… Sandbridge Beach and Macons Corner by 350 am
EST…
Rudee Heights and Virginia Beach oceanfront by 355 am EST…

The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. Get under a
workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is
available… seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an
interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use blankets or pillows to
cover your body and always stay away from windows.

If in Mobile homes or vehicles… evacuate them and get inside a
substantial shelter. If no shelter is available… lie flat in the
nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 am EST Saturday morning
for northeast North Carolina and southeastern Virginia. A Tornado
Watch also remains in effect until 900 am EST Saturday morning for
southeast Maryland and southeastern Virginia.
