The Lion King

All I have to say about having seen The Lion King musical last night w/ Jason2 is:
OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG!
I had heard “oh, the costumes will be fantastic” only a few million times before going, so I had set my expectations pretty high. (For the record, I was expecting “slighty better than Cats”.) 10 seconds into the show, my jaw was on the floor, my ass perched on the edge of the seat, and I’m pretty sure I had an ear-to-ear grin until the curtain came down (I’ll have to ask Jason2 about that). And it’s not like “just the costumes” made the show. The sets were PHENOMENAL, the orchestra rocked (esp. after finding out there were only ~12 musicians), and the singing was so great I really found it hard to believe that it wasn’t prerecorded.
Whew. Can you tell I liked it?
I think that (for the first time) I now truly understand the phrase “suspension of disbelief”. And a day later, when I think about how much “work” it must have taken to pull a show like that off, I have a much deeper appreciation for what goes into a show, and THANK GOD for creative people (like Senor Collins) who can make magic happen on a normal looking wood stage. ![]()
But how did you really feel about it?
OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! lol
If all musicals are this good, I think I’m going to have a problem.
