… we finally have a working downstairs bathroom!
Q: How hard is it to tile 16 square feet?
A: Not hard at all. Take three days off from work to “get ‘er done” yourself. On the third day off (after having done absoluately nothing but look at the Home Depot How To book), open the Yellow Pages to “tiling contractors”, dial the first number you see, and pray you get a decent contractor (which we did). $350 to tile the bathroom, replace the baseboard, replace 1/3 of the door trim, and to assemble/install the sink and toilet. Merry Christmas!
coward.
xox.
Amazing what a good contractor can do. It’s also amazing the damage a bad one can do. http://www.civis.com/portlandchimney (This page doesn’t include pictures of the discarded ‘porn packaging’ that was left in our trash from the said contractor.)
Do you feed your cat ‘cat grass’, or people wheat grass. We’ve noticed how much cheaper people wheat grass is than the stuff from the pet store for cats.
Coward? Absolutely! At least the contractor ran into a few snags involving swear words and “I owe you a piece of tile”, so I know it wasn’t a TOTAL cake job.
Carol, did Portland Chimney ever come out to “fix” the job?
We’ve only ever tried the cat grass — I’ll have to take a look at the people wheat grass. We’ve been talking about growing an herb garden, so this might get us started.
We wouldn’t let Portland Chimney come back… They left enough brick dust and pieces all over the freshly re-finished floors…
We found another guy recommended by a fireplace shop that came out and fixed it up as best he could given what had been done to it. It looks fine now, you can’t tell it was all messed up…
The chimney on the other hand, they left concrete/mortar smeared all over it, and never finished their “repair” work… Someday that will have to get taken care of.
