Out of Order

Forgot to blog about last Monday morning when I had the experience of watching our friend Chuck’s eyes get lasered — live, on a 20″ TV. I was actually like a foot away from him the whole time, but the flipping Excimer laser was in the way, so I had to watch the TV. Smoking. (As in they were literally smoking after the laser was done, but only for a second or two).
The laser part was pretty cool, but the “prep” part where they used what looked like an Oral B electric toothbrush to remove the layer of cells on the cornea pretty much freaked me out. YEOUCH! And poor Chuck — they didn’t put enough numbing drops in his eyes…
It takes a lot longer to recover from PRK than it does Lasik (or other correction methods), so it was a pretty miserable week for Chuck. Jason and I were supposed to drive him to DC on Friday so he could attend a very good friend’s wedding, but by Friday, he was still pretty wracked up, so he called it off.
No pain, no gain, right?!
