Holy shit. WaWa has regular gas for $2.11/gallon. That’s almost free!
Oh and jesus christ the crap I got today for voting for Bush in ‘04 but for daring to vote for a Democrat governor today.

2.11/Gal * 26Gal = 54.86 = still too much damn money to fill up my ride with gas. But, on the other hand its better than 3.11 from a few months ago .
BTW …
Political views are like assholes, eveybody has one and they all stink.
26 gallons? Is that your boat or what? Cripes.
no thats my yuppie scum SUV.
as long as that yuppie mobile has a blue oval on the front of it, im cool with it - lol also FYI the raceway by my house in Newport newes had regular for 2.07/gal
Yeah, but when you factor in the cost of the tetanus shot that you’d want to get after actually touching a pump handle at a RaceWay, it’s really not $2.07/gal.
John, what are you driving nowadays? What happened to the BMW?
Im still a BMW fan. I traded the 330 for an X5 .
when is the world going to learn that REAL trucks/ suvs are made in america..(Ford, GM, Dodge).. (and just cause your honda was assembled in tennessee does not make it american!!)
What the hell?
Why don’t you make a little list of things that you purchased (and use daily) that aren’t American. Like the Dell computer you use to type your blog comments. Or the Nokia cell phone you call everyone on. And chances are pretty high that your TV and DVD player aren’t American either.
When GM and Ford (sorry, but Dodge is brand of DaimlerChrysler, which is German owned) start making quality cars with the features that everyone wants, then there’s no reason for someone NOT to buy a non-American car.
Besides, I really hate the American auto unions. They may have served their place back in the day when the corporations were abusing the employees, but from what I can tell, the unions are a huge reason Ford and GM are struggling (with their unreasonable demands). What the hell is the point of demanding top-shelf medical insurance for the union folks if it’d bankrupt the company?!?!
1, its safe to say that you have never worked for a car mfr before, and if you ever had, you would know that some of the jobs there can be very physically taxing ( thus you need good insurance, just in case you get fucked up doing that job)
2. if youve never put in a 10-12 hour day in the F150 plant on the chassis line you have ZERO room to talk
3. just because dodge is owned by a german company doesnt make them a quality product, (transmission problems anyone)?
4. i said real trucks/SUV’s are made in america.. so as far as my dell computer and nokia cell phone, you can cram them .. were talking about products that range from 50$ to 1000$, not $40k automobiles
5. maybe you should pick up a copy of consumer reports, cause the german cars that you are soooo fond of arent scoring so hot.. hmmm.. maybe their factory workers dont have good enough insurance
6.dont make me even start on VW..
and 7, when did it become wrong to have pride in a product that was made in america, by an american company… granted some imported cars are very nice, but it would be nicer to keep your american money in america, supporting american families who work for these american companies??
1. I worked at Siemens Automotive for 3 years. Although we didn’t assemble cars at that plant, there was a whole lot of physically taxing stuff going on (as in repetitive tasks in an extremely noisy, smelly, and hot environment, some of which involved heavy lifting).
I’m not saying that people shouldn’t have good insurance — I strongly believe that they *should* have good coverage at an affordable price.
What I *am* saying is that it’s FUCKING STUPID for a union to continue to demand that a company on the edge of bankruptcy have to pay 100% (that’s right, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT) of the healthcare for its 750,000 U.S. hourly employees, retirees and their dependents.
GM is simply asking that retirees pitch in $752/year for FAMILY coverage and $370/year for individual coverage. $752/year = $62/month .. FOR FAMILY COVERAGE? That’s an INCREDIBLE DEAL. I pay more than that a month for just individual coverage. And yes, I think it sucks that someone who retired expecting their insurance to be free forever should have to do this. But the real world choices are a: pitch in and pay or b: watch the company go out of business and your insurance end.
Now if GM was rolling in money, I wouldn’t care so much about this issue. But it seems to be in SERIOUS danger of disappearing completely.
2. See #1. I worked in a plant for a lot longer than you did.
3. You listed Chrysler as an *American* company (right next to Ford and GM) in your previous comment. I was simply correcting you. I never said German cars were quality.
5. I have November 2005’s Consumer Reports in my hot little hand.
5 whole American cars on the list.
But don’t fret — American cars did well on another list. The only ones that Consumer Reports rated as having “POOR predicted reliability” were the Cadillac SRX, Ford Freestyle, and Volvo XC90.
6. I hate VWs too. Well, I dig their purple’sh dash, but that’s about it.
7. There’s nothing wrong with having pride in a product that was assembled in America. And there’s nothing wrong with someone buying an imported car because they can’t find an American car with everything that they want. And regarding your whole “keeping American $$ in America to support American families”, … if you really TRULY believe that (enough that you feel comfortable in calling others out for it), then practice what you preach in ALL ASPECTS of your life, brother, … practice what you preach. Otherwise you look like a big American auto union tool, spouting the bullshit union lines to guilt people into buying what’s not necessarily the best product simply because “it’s the right thing to do”.
On that note, buy me a gin & tonic at the Garage and I’ll love you again.
oh god, i havnet the strength to rebut again… a gin and tonic it is…
If your buying I will have a double hendricks (http://www.hendricksgin.com/us/about/index.asp) with a splash of tonic.
WTF happened to that post ^^^
You drink Gin and Tonic? With or without the lime. What’s your favorite gin?
G&T is my drink. with lime .. Hendricks my favorite.
http://www.hendricksgin.com/us/about/index.asp
I don’t think I’ve had that one. I’ll have to pick up a bottle the next time I pass a liquor store. I’ve already got the lime and tonic.
(She laughs because she passes at least two liquor stores on the way to and from work!)
Do you guys have liquors stores back there, or do you get to purchase your booze in grocery stores like the civilized states? (Note, I do not live in a civilized state in this respect.)
Well, the regular liquor store on the way home was closed already (closes at 7pm) and so we had to detour to find one open.
I don’t know if I should thank you for recommending it, or damn you for it!
Other gins *do* taste like after-shave in comparison to this. I didn’t have any cucumber to go with it, but I will try that tomorrow. . This is amazing tasting stuff. It tastes like a early summer afternoon somehow. Gin, and tonic, and a green gardeny cucumber taste and then a floral rosey taste that lingers without being perfumey.
It makes other gins seem kind of vicks-vapo-rubbish.
Any other recommendations?
Well, we have state owned and operated ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) stores.
Virginia is not a civilized state. Hell, they even call it The Commonwealth of Virginia Which , according to google means it is an organized territory that has established with the Federal Government a more highly developed relationship, usually embodied in a written mutual agreement. Now that sounds a bit shady to me.
Sweet!! Im glad you liked it . Hendricks is by far the best gin I have ever had. Its the only Gin that I have been able to have straight up on the rocks and actually enjoy. The taste is amazing.
IMHO, Hendricks tastes too good to dilute it with a bunch of tonic.. I normally have it with just a splash. But, when I want a proper G&T I like Citadelle http://citadellegin.com/en/ . Its very herbaceous and there is something like 19 spices in it.. As like Hendricks it’s very unique.
I used to be a Bombay Sapphire drinker.. But, since I discovered Hendricks and Citadelle I turn my nose at the stuff. ha-ha
I’ll try it with soda then, which is what I like with some scotch and certain bourbons. I kept thinking it could be used to marinate something besides me, too.
Any recommendations for other unusual libations? I love trying ones I’ve not tried before.
Bourbon wise, I’ve tried a lot of them, and my hands down favorites are the Van Winkles, especially Pappy Van Winkle. They’re tough to find, but oh so worth it.
Jason - what Gin do YOU like?
Have you ever tried Limoncello ? if not its an Italian liqueur made form the rind of lemons. Its great. I happen to make my own from my fathers recipe. But you can find recipes via google and commerically made versions at your more affluent alcoholic beverage providing establishments.
Limoncello… Yum. I haven’t made any in years.
Amazing how we got from gas at 2.11 to making homemade liquors! If you can’t afford to drive anywhere, may as well stay home and drink!
I had no luck getting any Citadelle. I saw many kinds of Limoncello, but didn’t buy any since what I wanted at that point was some Citadelle. I will have to expand my search to a fancier liquor store.
Speaking of which.. Its about time to make some more Limoncello, but finding organic lemons or any lemons that haven’t been coated with the FDA approved wax to make them look fresh for 2 months is very hard. I guess I will have to make some sambuca for the holidays. Its not molinari’s but it not bad for home made.

hmm… very interesting.. mail order fruit. I never thought about that. Thanks.
Have you used their services ?
Good lord, I’m thinking I might need to replace my blog with a forum.
j/k I love seeing everyone chat back and forth, and I’m learning a *lot* about good alcohol in this entry.
John, for
Don’t tell W.
Christmasthe holidays, your company usually gives my group here at DTS mail-order fruit (and salmon and jellies too). Good stuff! Well, I usually regift it to my grandma (after snagging the jellies) and she’s never complained, so I’m assuming the fruit is good stuff.Carol, I’m a total newbie to gin (normally a cheap house-rum + coke or HeffeweiBen guy here), but Tanqueray’s on the top of my list at the moment. I see I have a lot to learn.
DAMN!! its sounds like my company gives you a better xmas gift than what I get.
I got a lame GC to CheeseCakeFactory. Which BTW I regifted as well.
I hear phpBB is good
Us a double s (ss) not a B for the ess-tset
Thankß
And FWIW, … two stations in Chesapeake have regular for $1.99/gallon now.
Wonder how much that has to do with Congress getting all up in the oil exec’s faces?
Finished off the bottle of Tanquary this weekend, so I need to restock with something. John, is any of the stuff mentioned above easily findable in a VA ABC store?
You could always check the ABC website to see what they stock. I looked for Rip Van Winkle - Old Rip, and it’s a special order item.
