High speed in BFE?
Dec 29th, 2007 by Jason
Scott’s dad has a fairly-clever MacGyver style Internet connection going on at their rural (outskirts of Nazareth, PA) house (where DSL isn’t offered, and cable requires that upstream go over a dial-up phone connection — puke, puke)
Here’s how it was rigged:
Yagi directional antenna pointed toward closest Sprint cell tower > Sprint PCMCIA EVDO card > PCMCIA-to-PC adapter > PC with Internet Connection Sharing running > LinkSys router running in bridge mode > anything wireless in the house
Speeds were decent, even with three of us surfing at the same time.
