Nickel Creek
Nov 8th, 2007 by Jason
Scott and I caught Nickel Creek at the new Sandler Center last night. It was a sold out show with pretty much no advertising… Nicely done!
Their style is hard to describe (other than “WOW”), but clinically, “blueglass inspired progressive acustical” comes close. The only instruments they use are a violin, a mandolin, a guitar, a bass, and their vocals. Add some hilarious audience interaction, some impromptu tap dancing, and an “unplugged” encore and you’ve got one heck of an awesome performance.
(I still think it’s funny that the tall guy plays the little mandolin and the super-short guy plays the huge guitars, but it’s not secret that I’m easily amused…)
Not so yay for the seats at the Sandler Center. After the concert, my bum felt like it did after the 9-hour Lufthansa flight to Germany this summer. Yeouch.
I was a little worried that I wasn’t going to be able to go. We had a MAJOR production problem at job#1 that didn’t get resolved until an hour before the 7:30 showtime. Yipes!
Yay!
Glad you had fun.
