She had her leg removed.

When I dropped her off at the vet Monday afternoon, she hadn't eaten or drinken (in my head, that word exists) since the accident Friday night.

They unwrapped her leg and put pressure on various points and she didn't react, so it was apparent that she had some bad nerve damage.

They wanted to do the surgery Tuesday, but they weren't sure if she'd be hydrated enough. I guess you can't simply attach a garden hose to a cat's butt, ... the real process is much slower.

Turns out she did rehydrate quickly, so they did the surgery on Tuesday and I was able to take her home last night.

The surgery was $800, which was about 1/2 the cost of the estimate they originally gave me. Yay!

She's doing very well so far. She still 'feels' her phantom limb, so it's hard for me to watch her try to walk because you can see in her face that she's confused as hell as to why her leg isn't working. The doctor said she'll get used to that in a week or two.

So far the hardest part is leaving the special moist food out for her and keep the beagle and other cats out of it. :)

Me too! She's an awesome cat. She stays to herself most of the time, but every night she'll hop up on the bed for a few minutes of purring. :)
