Forget starting in the mail room…

… at least where I work.
About every three months, the cashier that works at our in-house cafeteria will apply for a position in another department (merchandise, logistics, HR, finance, etc) — and always gets it. Which means 4x a year, we have to deal with insanely long lines at the register while they train some n00b on how to ring everything up.
On the other hand, our mail room folks stay put, year after year. There’s no transferring out of that lovely hell.
