Busy but good.

Between the FSBO thing, work, and having a quasi-cold, I haven’t had much time for here.
Here’s what’s going on with the houses:
We should be closing on the sale of our townhouse early next week. Home owners inspection, termite/moisture inspection, appraisal, and survey are all done.
We should be closing on the PURCHASE of our new house the following Monday (27th), but we’re going to move in Tuesday the 21st and pay him rent ($50/day) until we close.
We’ve premoved a bunch of boxes over to Carla’s house (which is right next door to our new house) as well as into the new house itself. We want to get the new house’s carpet steam cleaned before we put anything on it, so we’re only premoving stuff that will stack in the non-carpeted dining room. He’s totally out of the house Monday (the 20th), so we have the carpet cleaners coming at 1:00PMsh. Hopefully the carpets will be dry the following day ’cause that’s when we’re dragging our “big” stuff in (furniture).
When I called to setup my home owners insurance on the new residence, I was very happy to see it was only $80/year more. The next day I got a call from the insurance company saying that their computer wouldn’t underwrite the policy because the new house was within 5 miles of the ocean. I was mega bummed because I didn’t want to have to find a new insurance company because that would mean switching over our auto insurance also (to get the best rates). The next day, the insurance company called back AGAIN to say that their computer put our house at 4.9 miles from the ocean, so as long as it had a roof newer than 15 years (which it did), they’d cover us. Yesterday I google earth’ed our new house and the heck if it isn’t 12 miles from the ocean. 4.9 my ass. But I’m glad to say with Ameriprise.
The mortgage company I’m working with is VirtualBank. Their rates were good and the guy I’ve been working with has been nothing short of excellent.
Same with the real estate lawyer. She totally kicks ass. I was orig. supposed to pay the sellers closing costs (in addition to the buyers closing costs) on the house I’m buying (don’t ask — it was part of our deal), but she thought that was stupid and called up the seller and talked him into paying them himself. I thought that was cool.
So yeah, everything’s a huge blur right now, and I’d totally kill for an administrative assistant to coordinate things like carpet cleanings and getting my payoffs for my cars/credit cards, but I’m actually having a blast!
