Just migrated our main SQL DB server at work to a newer server with some kick-ass hardware.
63 databases, …. 47GB of data.
All with a 30lb cat on my right hand…
What better way to end a weekend than staying up to 1:30AM only to be in work super-duper early tomorrow in case there are any unforseen issues. (this is the part where I cross my fingers)
Had a great time this weekend hanging out with Kellie and Dan. We’re on a mission to properly tag 30GB of music. Oye. That, and TWO (yes, two) visits to the Apple store. I’m very proud to announce that Dan (not an Apple fan) didn’t burst into flames on either visit.
But he isnt 30lbs!!
Only 47 Gigs of data? What version of SQL are you using?
SQL 2000 Enterprise SP4 with some silly hotfix.
Hotfixes aren’t silly when they prevent data corruption…
True. This one had something to do with being able to use all 8GB of RAM on the box. I only call it silly because I had forgotten I installed it on the old box, so when I tried restoring the master database on the new box, it complained that the boxes were different versions (when I could swear that they were both SQL 2000 SP4). Finally figured it out…
