Back it up — this post should have gone in a few days ago. I *could* backdate it, but then nobody would see it.
There’s a lot of back-story that should go into this post for it to make sense, but I’m too tired to wonk it all out in a clever fashion. Basically, I worked with Emily a zillion years ago back in Portland (King City, actually). When I moved to VA, she was off in college, so we lost touch, but thru the wonders of google, she tracked me down a year ago. Turns out she had moved from Portland to the Raleigh area of North Cackalacky Carolina. Who knew?
She’s loves playing rugby, and twice a year or so her league plays here in Norfolk. Last Saturday they were up to play NoVa, so I took JAK and we watched her team hand NoVa their ass on a platter. I have no fucking clue what the rules of rugby are, but it was a lot of fun to watch, especially when they hoist someone in the air to catch the ball, or all walk around like crab people. Major props to the guy who controls the weather for letting them finish their game before opening the floodgates. It POURED (!!!!) for hours about 10 minutes after the game was over.
After the game, Emily came over to our place and transmorphed from mud creature back to woman. We hit Senor Fox for dinner and then Farm Fresh for some libations. SHE LOVES HEFFEWEISSEN. Do you know how hard it is to find a *guy* who likes that? Lord. With there being four of us, the night turned into “game night” — Scrabble, Cranium, then Taboo. I so suck at Scrabble. I don’t have the patience, and these two letter Egyptian words and sounds that Rico does really piss me off.
Oddly enough, both Scrabble and Cranium started off with the word Menorah. Weird.
And for the record, as much as I such at Scrabble, I so don’t suck at Taboo. ![]()
Hmmm and who rocks at scrabble??? I dont see that mentioned. And for the record, when there is no alcohol involved I’m pretty good at Taboo too. HA.
I think the Jason pair is the best Taboo combo I’ve ever seen. You guys were amazing, except for that one “Becky was one”…”Cheerleader!” That was a Scott-Jason play, I think. Fun, fun times. I’m ready for marathon Scrabble again.
Scrabble marathon? I need to study the Scrabble dictionary first!!!
Still weirded out that both Scrabble and Cranium games started with the word menora(optional h). heh
