BSG

Mar 13th, 2006 by Jason

Not too sure how I feel about the BSG season finale, other than “wow, and I thought last season’s cliff-hanger was a doosey”.  Oh, and I hate Gaius Baltar.  HATE HATE HATE.  ;)

Yep.. I’m still undecided on whether I liked the 1 year job or not…

    Lori hated it!

Baltar is really getting on my nerves now… nobody said “Hey, didn’t we give you an atomic bomb for a cylon tester that we never used… can we have our bomb back now?”

Took the words out of my mouth. You’d think after a year of having a bed president they would have assissinated or the fucker. Or at least impeached him. Christ how many times did they try to get Rosiland out for one reason or another. Come on now…..

Yeah, when “ONE YEAR LATER” flashed across the screen, Scott and I were like WTF? Pause. Back eight seconds. (watch it again). Pause. WTF?!?!?

Must have been a rough year — everyone looked like major ass. Adama and his moustache, the chubbier Apollo .. and StarBuck with long hair? Thank god Helo kept himself together. (more speculation for the rumor I’m starting that he’s gay)

It would have been cool if the old President did a “Told You So” dance while the Cylons were flying overhead though. :)

I feel jiped that we have to wait until October for the new season.  That’s .. what .. 7 months away?  We’ve never had to wait 7 months before.  Do I smell class action lawsuit?  (Can you tell I’ve been hanging out on the Mac forums a lot lately?)  :D

The whole concept… CYLON: ” We will let you survive…”

HUMANS: “Oh.. OK.. thanks…we will put all the surviving race on this shit hole planet.. (all eggs in one basket…)”

PS – Loved the Reverend Cylon last week talking to the Chief when he said “Oh.. I’m a Cylon.. and I have not seen you at any of the meetings…”

I turned to Lori and said “watch us find out he is…”

  5. on 13 Mar 2006 at 10:47 am5Jason

Argh. I hope Chief isn’t!  If Baltar finished his Cylon detector, then we’d know if Chief was or wasn’t.  Then again, a working Cylon detector would make for a really short series.

I loved it when the Reverend was protesting that he wasn’t a Cylon when they put him in jail.  Then he sees his copy in the other cell and was like “Oh, OK.”.  :)
So, speaking of Cylons. Does anyone have the back-story on the ones that look like humans? For example, was there a “real” Sharon at one time that was abducted and replaced by a Cylon model? If not, the logistics seem pretty improbable that a Cylon toaster created a baby that was placed with a real human family that grew into an adult that just happened to be in the military and stationed on BSG. I’m thinking I missed something that happened in the pilot when Helo and Sharon went back to the planet.

Cool beans for Lori watching.  Scott and I are totally into the series, but Jason2 isn’t.  He sits in the living room with us, surfing on his laptop, just “to be social”.  But me thinks the boy doth protest too much, if you know what I mean.  :)

I dont think it’s that the human cyclons replaced an actual human. I think they are created with an entire back story in their minds that they think is real, but is actually completely fabricated. If it’s a “sleeper” type agent most of them dont even realize that their entire lives are fake until they are actually activated. I think this is the case with the original Sharon. Remember whenever she was doing the sabotage type stuff she didnt even know she was doing it. Almost like she had dual personalities.

  7. on 13 Mar 2006 at 11:56 am7WolfMan

Yeah.. in 1 or 2 eps ago.. Sharon made the comment about “well… those are my memories… but they are not real…” (She was standing in her old apt on Caprica talking to the tall blond Cylon…)

I do not think the Chief is a Cylon.. I meant the Rev was going to be a Cylon… and I laughed my ass off with the prison scene when he went “oh.. OK..”.

But now you got me thinking that the Chief might turn out to be a sleeper agent… hum????

yeah, Lori did not like it at first but she kept watching while I was playing catch up from season one (BSG marathon!!!). Now she is as addicted as I am… some guys at work watch it too….

That suks if we have to wait 7 months…arghhhhhh!

PS – I watch SG1 now just cause it’s got the guy from Farscape…but it’s no where near as entertaining as BSG.

OMG, a BSG Wiki! Thanks Steve — there goes any hope for me having a productive day here at work. :)

And what do you know, … the answer to my question:

    • There are precisely twelve human Cylon models. The other varieties of Cylon spacecraft or fighters are not factored into this count of 12 models.
    • Sharon Valerii was never an actual human, and neither were the other Cylon agent models.
    • The twelve models are based on on archetypes determined by the Cylons that form what they perceive were the specific kinds of human behavior and/or personality, distilled into twelve varieties.

Speaking of Farscape, Scott’s going to glue me to the couch on Fridays (now that BSG is off) and make me watch the movie + series.

  11. on 13 Mar 2006 at 1:27 pm11WolfMan

    Farscape is excellent!!

Starts a little slow…but gets good.

Yeah, Can you tell I’m bored at work today?

  12. on 13 Mar 2006 at 1:34 pm12Michael

In response to Jason: “Argh. I hope Chief isn’t! If Baltar finished his Cylon detector, then we’d know if Chief was or wasn’t. Then again, a working Cylon detector would make for a really short series.”

If you recall Baltar did finish the Cylon detector, and it worked, but he didn’t want to tell Sharon she was a Cylon, so he modified it to say that everyone was a human. (On the spot while Sharon was waiting for her results.)

So Baltar has had a working one all along he just refused to use it properly.

Not Farscape. I’ve never seen that. Firefly, and then the movie Serenity. It’s actually really good. Trust me on this. I have yet to steer you wrong on things that I have actually seen (this statement keeps me safe from any comments about sin city). Anyone that I have ever forced to watch this has liked it. Just give it a chance!!!

  14. on 13 Mar 2006 at 1:38 pm14Scotimus

Oh and what the hell is a wiki??

  15. on 13 Mar 2006 at 2:41 pm15Michael

It doesn’t really belong here, but it looks like StarTrek like communicators are sort of a reality now. (Not quite as small, and has an added benefit of an LCD on the back for text.)

    It ought to be interesting….

  16. on 13 Mar 2006 at 3:33 pm16WolfMan

    FireFly is even better!!!!!!!

    Too bad only one season…..

  17. on 13 Mar 2006 at 4:01 pm17Scotimus

  18. on 14 Mar 2006 at 11:06 am18WolfMan

  19. on 14 Mar 2006 at 11:34 am19jon collins

    firefly is overrated pap.

per BSG… *weeps* october? OCTOBER?! *weeps like thorn at thelma and louise*

  20. on 14 Mar 2006 at 1:12 pm20Scotimus

Overrated? Hmm i dont agree there.

    All a matter of opinion.

  21. on 14 Mar 2006 at 1:25 pm21Jason

    Pap? What’s pap?

And for the record, I didn’t cry at Thelma and Louise, although I did get a little teary eyed in the Chronicles of Narnia when Aslan was killed.

I remember being impressed by the preview for FireFly, but then they did the “Behind the Scenes” and it showed some of the show’s fans, and, .. well, … I was scared. :)

  22. on 14 Mar 2006 at 1:54 pm22Scotimus

Oh sure. Judge a show by its fans. If that were the case I wouldnt be watching much tv anymore. Or any sci-fi shows at all for that matter. hmmm
