He gives the best advice (on American Idol).
Work’s been pretty crazy lately. I’ve had to unbox, configure and rebox about 20 Dell PowerEdge servers that are going to our disaster recovery center in OK. I try not to bitch too much about this because I totally got out of having to be the one to fly out to OK (in the middle of winter) to unbox and rack the bitches. GOD I HATE RACKING SERVERS.
I get to figure out how to cluster mySQL servers for a in-house intranet project. This makes me chuckle because our major major major production DB servers aren’t clustered. How the hell did this little project get the red carpet treatment for their DB? LOL
Jason and I tried Pungo Pizza for the first time last night. It was very very good (hello … feta + garlic on a pizza? who knew!?), but the local folk were a little .. well, rural. If I closed my eyes and just listened to the other customers, I would have sworn we were in South Carolina, not 5 minutes from our house. (Pungo is akin to Canby for all ya’ll PDX’ers out there)
Jason, Scott and I hoofed it up to Short Pump on Sunday to pick up some furniture Scott had ordered from Crate + Barrel. Thankfully the Apple store (which is the reason I so willinging make this 4-hour roundtrip drive) was back-ordered on MacBook Pro’s or the trip would have cost me $2500+. (And what’s all this forum activity about strange buzzing sounds coming from the MBPs? Tsk Tsk Apple)
I embarassingly have become addicted to American Idol, although I am proud to say that I can get thru a TiVo’ed hour-and-a-half episode in like 20 minutes. (shakes fist at Ian for leaving it on in the background two weeks ago)
The guy selling the house has been working 80 hour weeks, so we haven’t heard much lately. He told Carla he was going to have the house appraised, so we’re sitting tight until then. His timeframe to move was May’sh, so there’s still lots of time.
Scott and I ripped up the IKEA laminate flooring in the backroom last Friday. For as much of a bitch as it was putting that floor down, it sure did rip right up. Sam’s Club (argh, I know) has some laminate flooring for $1.50/sq foot, which isn’t a bad price. I need to do some googling to see if anyone’s had any problems with it. If not, I hope to start putting it down this weekend.
It’s going to be 70 tomorrow. Of course, on Saturday when we’re all off, it’s only going to be in the 40s.
We bought the dogs those leashes that “reel out” up to 16 foot. It’s a real hoot to try to walk both of them with those leases by oneself. I think I’ve got the hang of it. Hopefully the dogs will do. Sometimes when they’re 4 feet out, they think they’re free and start booking it, only to get snapped back 12 feet later. It’s fun, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find that my arms are 2″ longer after walking them tonight.
OK, off to bed. ![]()
What happened to the password protected entry you were mentioning a little while back?
