Where was I 20 years ago today?

On a family vacation in Florida (yes, Florida in January is a vacation when you live in Portland), standing on the beach about 20 miles from Cape Canaveral, watching the Challenger launch.

And I was at work, in the Microbiology lab at OHSU, and you called me when it happened.
I was in elementary school watching it on TV.
I was at my grandmothers house watching it on tv ( 4 years old) yikes!
And you remember that?! Woah!
Tolo — totally forgot that you did microbiology stuff.
It’s amazing what you can remember from childhood if the event was big enough. I remember when President Kennedy was shot - I was 4.
When I left microbiology, I said I’d never work in ‘healthcare’ again. Famous last words. . .
You’re right about memory. I remember a minor earthquake we had out here when I was 7 or 8, and when a huge black cloud of smoke appeared over the Naval Air Station when I was in 3rd grade (we all thought a plane had crashed). It’d be cool if there was a way to “download” memories onto removable storage (natch) for later review, no?
As for healthcare, at least now the viruses you deal with are electronic. That’s got to be more fun than worrying about taking ebola home with you. heh
