Mac vs. PC CPU Shootouts
Dec 21st, 2005 by Jason
So apparently the 1.67 GHz PPC processor in my PowerBook is the equiv. of a 2.2 GHz Intel 4 processor… Cool beans. I knew that PPC processors didn’t rate the same as Intel, but hadn’t ever seen a comparison chart before.
If you’re interested in seeing a thorough and pretty much unbiased OS X vs Windows XP shootout, …
You are just so determined to find all sorts of reasons that I should get a mac huh?
There’s nothing in that list for “pen enabled”, which for me is a ‘killer app’. At least for how I work. (Typing in meetings is frowned upon.)
My poor mac is neglected. The VPN doesn’t work right (to OHSU’s CISCO system), the Citrix support sucks (for the Version of Citrix and seamless apps we are using) so I can’t use it for ‘work’. Only for surfing the web, and other random stuff, which I can use just about any computer for.
It doesn’t work with the online music source I use, which of course is the fault of the makers of the products.
Pen enabled? Like a tablet notebook?
I’m 100% mac at home. I too have VPN problems getting back to work, but Virtual PC performs well enough for me when I need to connect to the office, which thankfully isn’t very frequently.
You could also try these things with your mini:

Yeah, like a tablet. I already have one of those, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a regular laptop. It’s way cool to be able to write in my normal handwriting in meeting notes, and be able to search them that way. I don’t convert them to regular text.
OneNote’s a pretty cool app.
I’ve heard rumors of a MacTablet….
oooo ooo I was at the Short hill mall in jersey today and I found another MAC store. Holy christ it was scarey packed in there.
I’m not sure I’d get much use out of a tablet. When it comes to “handwriting”, my hand cramps if I have to sign a check. Having to take written notes during a meeting would KILL me. LOL
I love OneNote, though. Great way to organize and search through notes. That’s cool that it can search through your handwriting too.
Scott, I bet everyone was buying an iPod. Or at least that’s what they were doing at Best Buy yesterday.
HA that is probably so true. Someday I will have one. Other then the shuffle that is. I actually got a little frustrated with it yesterday b/c I wanted to play a specific song and i had to like fast forward 15 times to get to it. ha.
Hence the name, “SHUFFLE” … lol
When I used it to listen to Coast to Coast AM (Art Bell), I had to use iTunes to put the playlist in order (With Coast to Coast being the first tracks) so music doesn’t get shuffled in the middle of the podcast. LOL
