EDIT EDIT: Sad puppy story.
Jason, Dan and I were coming home from Wal*Mart in the middle of an awesome thunderstorm (getting drenched in the Jeep … top on, but no doors/windows) when we saw a bunch of cars stopped (with flashers on) on a fairly busy street in our neighborhood. As we pulled by, we saw a guy running up the sidewalk, carrying a dog in his arms. I stopped the Jeep and Dan yelled out “Can we give you a ride?” The guy yelled “yeah”, so I backed the Jeep up. The guy was hesitant to get in because the the dog was bleeding and he didn’t want to get blood in the Jeep. I was like “fuck that, get in”. Dan immediately hopped in the back with Jason, the guy got in, and I was like “where to?”, trying to think of the closest vet hosptial. The guy said that he was visiting a friend, and this was his first time around here. He said he wanted to go back to his friends house (as this was her dog), but wasn’t totally certain where her house was. The dog was bleeding, but I couldn’t tell how bad. Her tounge was hanging out the side of her mouth, which was closed. Her eyes were focusing and she was looking around without moving her head too much, so that made me feel a little bit better. Christ, it was all I could do to NOT bust out into tears, and I didn’t even know this dog. Maybe it was because she looked so much like ours. Maybe I’m just a big pussy. Who knows? Anyway, after some confusion on where to go, we dropped the guy off in front of his friends house. He ran around to the side of the house (????), trying to open the fence while holding the dog. This made me kinda mad. Ring the fucking doorbell, kick the goddamned front door down. Now’s NOT the time to be going around the side of the house. Ugh. Maybe my priorites are messed up, but if I come home with an injured pet, I’m coming in thru the front door, blood or no blood. There wasn’t anything we could do there, so we finished driving home. It was a quiet drive.
EDIT: if the picture below fucks up the format of this webpage,

Awesome picture in the KGW link — I’m jealous.
Did you guys lose power or anything????
Nope, the only time we have lost power at our new house is when someone 40 blocks away managed to go off the road and take a telephone pole out. (On a straight section of road.) (They managed to break it off at the ground, so they must have been moving very fast.)
