Now that dairy’s 99% out of the diet, I can now relate to everyone who’s lactose intolerant. Tried a Starbucks Frapp last week and a bagel with cream cheese this week and .. well folks, it wasn’t pretty.
It’s amazing how quickly the calorie intake goes down when 99% of fast-food is made into a no-no.
By ‘fast food’ do you mean restaurant fast-food, or any kind of ‘fast food’? Prime rib takes hours to cook, but it sure won’t help reduce any calorie intake.
I’m mostly talking about buildings involving a window that they pass your food thru after swiping your card. I don’t know how many King Sized BK Whopper w/ Cheese + Dr Pepper combo’s I’d have in a regular week. Actually, I do — I’m just not willing to share.
I used to love BK! Not so much anymore though….oh how I miss those days of not caring. Drive-thrus are evil! Except for the occassional Taco Bell run for nacho cheese chalupas.
Wow, I wish I could just ‘cut out’ fast food and suddenly lose weight. The one fishwich I eat a week wouldn’t make that much differene. My current two favorite things to eat are edameme and spinich salad (with pecans and cranberries and home-made maple vinegrette).
I tried cutting out dairy some years ago, but every ’soy milk’ product I tried had the ‘not pretty’ effect, even in small quantities. Small quantities of milk or cheese don’t bother me. Large amounts, like eating a piece of pizza, will.
Tolo, I’m hoping your weekly fish sandwich is from Burgerville! God I miss that place. Happiness is seeing the local dive burger joint (Bonny-Lynn?) getting demolished and seeing a new Burgerville going in. Fortunately for me, the mile between our house in West Linn and the BV involved a 600ft elevation change, otherwise I’d probably be 50lbs heavier.
I like Edamame the way it’s done in sushi places - boiled in the shell. Most places just boil in salt water (you *must* boil it for five minutes, to deactivate the ‘anti-nutritional’ properties.), but one place (http://www.steamerscorp.com/welcome.html) salts and peppers them. Since we work in a mall, mall food is the food du jour, and Steamers is the best of the places to eat. OMG! If you click on the link for Lloyd Center, you’ll find that MICHAEL is standing in line! I think he’s eaten there ONCE. Maybe twice.
At home, I buy them frozen, and just boil them in salt water. I have heard that Edamame is a perfect accompanyment to beer. I haven’t tried it yet.
Um, EVERYTHING is the perfect accompanyment to beer. In my mind, anyways. We’ll have to check these Edamame things out…
Mall food. Lord. That’s what I had the year I lived in Chicago. Nothing like being able to create a lunch of a Taco Bell Soft Taco Supreme, Curly Fries from Arby’s and McD’s 2-for-$1 Hot Apple Pies… And I wonder why I needed 5 tsp of Metamucil every morning to function. Ugh.
It’s obvious that the reason you’re @ 96% is because you haven’t eaten since the 5th of June.
chuckle

How do you eat your edameme?
