You know you might be a geek when you want to replace your 300-watt Dell PowerEdge SC server running Linux (Fedora Core 2) with a 65-watt mac mini running Linux (Yellow Dog) just to have a much quieter/smaller server. LOL
I know the mini’s laptop drive isn’t nearly as fast as a regular 3.5 harddrive, but it should be more than fast enough for a server that just hosts email/websites and acts as network storage for about 4 folks.
Ugh. It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about computers!
If you didn’t know by now that you *are* a geek, there’s just no hope of you realizing it.
True. Now I just need to be a more hip geek, like you and several other of my friends.
Geekiness alone doesn’t a cool guy make.
Wow, the tech nerd in you is getting worse! Quick, someone bring this guy something to help that, like a football or something. I look at your desire to replace it as this: I think that my dishwasher is too loud after hearing one that I couldn’t in fact hear. The only way that I could tell that it was running is by touching it and trying to feel if there were any vibrations, which there were very few. So in my common situation, am I on the right path to understanding geek???
It means I’m still copying the config files from the Fedora Core 2 box over to the Yellow Dog box.
Oh fuck.
THE SYSTEM TIME IS OFF, thus my replies to Carol’s comments .. before her comment actually posted.
So what does it mean when I try to hit this site, and I get an error that MySQL must be installed?
Anyway, just in case you don’t have enough little things to do, I thought you might like this: Nerd Vittles http://mundy.org/blog/index.php
