Weekend in Review

Apr 24th, 2005 by Jason

I was tired of driving a yellow Jeep, so I washed all of the pollen off today. Between that and replacing the wipers last week, it’s almost like having a totally new car. :)

The kid that bought the townhouse next door stopped me today (right after I finished mowing the lawn) to ask if the $11/mo property owners’ association fee that we pay covered them mowing everyones lawns. Um, yeah .. like my allergies-so-bad-I-should-be-in-a-bubble self would be out mowing my damn lawn if someone else was going to do it. He wasn’t too happy to learn that we each have to mow our own. Maybe people should read the POA guidelines before buying in a POA community?

Jason and I spent last night in DC.

Not that I’m a huge fan of overnight trips involving 6-hours round-trip of driving, but this trip involved lots of alcohol and was priced just right. (translation: Jason’s friend was having a “bring a bottle of wine” birthday party, and also had a room that we could spend the night in) The party was great — awesome wine, very cool crowd (except for Jon W. Collin’s evil-twin), and excellent music. (Sorry about that drunk-as-hell answering machine message, Jon!)

Around midnight is when things started to get interesting.

Everyone (still standing) piled into two cabs and headed to a bar called the Green Lantern, where birthday boy and his boyfriend proceed to get into a knock-down-drag-out fight in the middle of the parking lot. After trying to pull them apart several times, it was pretty clear that they weren’t going to stop until one of them was KO’ed.

After watching 10 minutes of homo-beat-homo, Jason and I agreed that spending the night in their spare room wasn’t going to be in our best interest. We decided to head back to their place, grab our shit, and figure it out from there. We left the bar with another cool guy from the party earlier, stumbled walked the 1.5 miles (uphill, thank you very much) back to bday boy’s place … only to see that bday boy and his boyfriend had taken a cab back and were inside still fighting. All three of us grabbed our junk and headed outside to Jason’s car.

Right about then, cool guy mentioned that since his roommate was out of town, it’d be cool for us to crash at his dorm. Hmmmm. A GWU dorm for free or $200+ to book a hotel room at 1AM in DC? All decisions should be so simple, right?

I had forgotten how “interesting” the room cleaning habits of guys in their early 20s can be. It’s been awhile since I’ve had to step over lids to pans .. while in someone’s living room. Or have to flush Kleenex because the bathroom trashcan was underneath 3 feet of overflowing trash.

Cool guy ended up crashing on the couch and let us use his twin bed (apparently his roommates was a biohazard and to be avoided at all costs). With half my ass hanging off the mattress, I was able to snag 3-4 hours of sleep. Jason was having no problems snoozing (his skinny ass fit on the bed just fine), so I just layed there until around 9sh when we packed up, thanked cool guy, and headed back home. As crazy as it was, this was one of the funnest weekends I’ve ever had!

lucky for you, the boyfriend was online and so no one noticed your little drinking and dialing faux pas. Had you woken me up (an hour after going to bed) you would have incurred the wrath of an awful wrathful bad fairy.

do tell about my evil twin. I want details.
