Special Weather Statement
… Isolated thunderstorms may contain damaging winds late this afternoon and early evening…
A strong cold front will sweep across the mid Atlantic region during the late afternoon and early evening hours. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will likely develop along the front and these storms will contain wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph. A few of the most intense storms may produce winds gusts in excess of 50 mph and these strong wind gusts may bring down some trees and/or power lines or cause minor structural damage to buildings.
The cold front and accompanying showers and thunderstorms will quickly exit off the mid Atlantic coast during the early evening hours which will end the damaging wind threat.
