One holiday down, …

Thanksgiving was a BLAST!
Rico & Ian made a $124 Wal*Mart run on Monday, filling up a whole pantry shelf (covered in aluminum foil that said “THANKSGIVING — TOUCH AND DIE”) and two fridge shelves.
My contribution was to start a major kitchen project at 5PM Thanksgiving Eve — moving the dishwasher about 10 feet and installing a new IKEA base cabinet where the dishwasher originally was. Mentally, this project was only supposed to take an hour or so. Around 11PM I was only 50% done, and if the sight of Ian (who had been up since 3AM) running around trying to cook 2 pumpkin pies, Watergate salad, and a sweet potato casserole hadn’t have made me laugh, I think I would have shot myself. This was one of Ian’s first times “really” cooking, and he did an awesome job.
Rico did an excellent job preparing everything else on Thursday, and was really cool about waking up to his kitchen being totally in pieces from the night before. The only thing that phased him was when a pot of giblets that he had fried up for JAK got blown off the counter. We left it cooling in front of the window from earlier in the day, and then a cold front moved in, with winds gusting to 45mph! JAK didn’t seem to mind licking his dinner off of the floor instead of getting them properly delivering into his bowl, but Jason took a self-imposed 20 minute timeout upstairs.
We ate around 3’sh, all sprawled out in the living room, watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Nice!
Rico and I had to work on Friday. Rico had to deal w/ “Black Friday” in the store, and I had to deal with it by watching my credit card and phone card servers. Turned out not to be a big deal for either one of us. ![]()
