Hello Autumn
Oct 17th, 2004 by Jason
Saturday, Jason and I took the quadruped for an afternoon on the town. JAK got to pick his own treats out at PetSmart, and then go on a 2.5 hour walk on the trails at First Landing State Park. (Phooey on them for requiring people to pay $3 to park year round now!) He did a decent job of getting his body out of the way of the bikers/joggers, although he forgets about moving his tail out of thier way. Fortunately nobody ran it over or stepped on it. Thank god his nose didn’t fall off. With as bonkers as he was going smelling the stuff there that he doesn’t normally get to smell, we were a little worried.
Oh, cotton really IS the fabric of life. Between PetSmart and the trail, we hoofed over to Linens & Things (after parking JAK in the back of the Jeep) and procured some of those sheets that feel like cotton t-shirts. They’re bright orange. When Jason put ‘em on the bed last night, I wasn’t too sure about the color (orange is pushing it in a mostly IKEA gray room), but they turned out being so comfortable that it just doesn’t matter.
I had to fly solo for most of the week at work. My metrosexual boss was taking a Red Hat Linux Security training class in the middle of homosexual central (Dupont Circle, Washington DC). For the record, the same training is offered locally, but if someone else is going to foot the bill, why not travel, right? The other guy on our team had kid problems and was only at work Mon/Wed, leaving me, myself and I to handle the stuff the three of us normally do. Nothing blew up, and the rest of the dept. was cool about not swamping me with busy work (stuff technically my group does, but they’re capable of doing).
Ian’s moving in next Saturday and we still have to find new homes for a bunch of our crap in his room-to-be. Nothing like a looming deadline to motivate!
Now if we could just get motivated about finishing the house… LOL
