Today Jason’s mom went with us to Chicago (via the train). We went to the Art Institute of Chicago (wow), lunch at Chipotle’s (which somehow managed to move about a mile further than where it was the day before), the Chicago Cultural Center (which was the old library — again, “WOW”), and then the Field Museum (had to say hi to Sue, the resident T-Rex).
The Field Museum closed at 5pm and the next train didn’t come until 6pm, so we had an hour to kill. We were all extremely wiped out from walking all day (which included getting drenched during a storm), so an hour of nothing to do with no place to sit (we were at the worlds crappiest train station — no covered places to sit when it trains). When the train finally arrived, it was obnoxiously overfilled (apparently quite a few people who headed to the city for The Taste and the fireworks were heading back because of the rain), so we had to stand up the entire 50 minute trip back to East Chicago. Well, to be fair, one nice little girl did offer her seat for Jason’s mom, but us bitches stood the whole way. ![]()
