Time to fly from Norfolk (via Charlotte) to O’Hare: 3 hours 50 minutes
Time to drive from O’Hare to where Jason’s mom lives (30 miles): 2 hours 40 minutes
(and $1.20 in tolls)
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
But Jason’s mom had a great dinner waiting for us, so that was very nice. The last meal was at 8am — had planned on grabbing some food in Chicago, but the traffic was so bad that there’s no way we could have gotten off the not-s0-much Expressway and back on. On the flight, I had some Ginger Ale and pretzels, which is a lot of sugar. For optimal results, I need to follow “lots of sguar” with “real food” in the next hour or two, which I didn’t get to do, so I was a major dick on the way to Jason’s moms house. Why he didn’t kick my ass out at one of the Oasis is beyond me.
Anyhow, we’re all checked in to our hotel, and are ready to take the commuter rail to Chicago today (no more driving to that damn city, thank you very much) to go check out “The Taste” and to buy Jason’s mom a belated birthday gift.
