Humpday + 1

The IKEA trip on Sunday was awesome — got a center island that’s the perfect size for the kitchen and cool cabinet that will act as a dry bar (replacing the leaning white shelf). We wanted to get two bookcases, but we ran out of room in Jason’s Cavalier (it’s weird to have the vehicle run out of room before the VISA does). After waiting 45 minutes for the IKEA monkeys to pull the stock for us (even though there was no “line” to speak of), we beat feet over to Red Robin, which always rocks. (I say this definitively after having gone a whole two times!)
Over at the Tree House, I got word (5:30pm Monday night) that we were going to test Telecheck in a local store on Wednesday morning, which gave us Tuesday to design/code/test the code that pushes the Telecheck update to the stores. Nothing like having 8 hours to do what normally takes a full work week. Well, make that 11 hours — we ended up working until 7pm on Tuesday. After correcting two rookie mistakes we made, the test store did fine on Wednesday. Telecheck was the last of my big projects, so now I get some slack time at work, which is cool since I have to take 4 Microsoft certification tests by the end of the year — lots of studying to do.
So I’m not a big fan of Rico’s new job at Lowe’s. I’m happy for him that he’s making about the same as he was at his last gig (he’s doing some good stuff with his money), but A) I rarely get to see him and B) he’s tired when I do get to see him. I don’t understand how a company that schedules its folks 55 hours regularly expects them to be productive. ![]()
